Forecasts estimate that the global energy storage market will double six times between 2016 and 2030, rising to a total of 125 GW/305 GWh, and requiring an estimated US$103bn to be invested in energy storage over this period. Although this is a relatively new asset class, with a limited number of project finance deals to date, opportunities are expected to multiply as electricity storage technologies mature, costs fall and the value of flexibility services increases. In this context, Norton Rose Fulbright’s US and UK energy teams will host an international panel discussion exploring the conditions needed to realise the potential of the energy storage market including discussion of commercial, technical, regulatory and financing issues.
