Governments are putting green or low carbon hydrogen at the heart of their “net zero” energy and climate policies. Low carbon hydrogen will contribute to decarbonisation through a number of applications, from energy-intensive industrial processes to transportation and space heating.
In this report “Scaling up Green Hydrogen in Europe”, ILF Consulting Engineers, Dentons and Operis discuss the challenges to the growth of green hydrogen projects. They look across the hydrogen value chain and consider both the physical and contractual/regulatory infrastructure needed to make the vision of a hydrogen economy a reality. The paper considers how to match supply and demand for hydrogen; suggests possible models for financing hydrogen projects and trading their output, and reviews the role of public financial support and other policy interventions.
