Germany’s National Hydrogen Strategy in a Nutshell

With its National Hydrogen Strategy from 2020, the German federal government has presented a comprehensive strategy to boost the market ramp-up for green hydrogen and, thereby, to decarbonise the German economy.

Created for you to watch at your convenience, in this 8-minute presentation Dr. Klaus-Dieter Borchardt, Senior Energy Advisor at Baker McKenzie and former Deputy Director General of the Energy Department of the European Commission delves into the three main strategic areas:

  • How to develop and scale up the domestic production of green hydrogen
  • The adoption of a preliminary regulatory basis for a hydrogen network infrastructure in Germany
  • The need to establish a global hydrogen supplier market to cover the huge German import needs of green hydrogen
