Forthcoming Projects – Outlook for RES in CEE and Baltic Sea Offshore Wind
Across the world the energy industry looks to governments to provide a strategic vision toward decarbonisation. The industry is also in the midst of a shift to a new mentality as in the mid-term future, fully-merchant plants will be developed. In CEE, energy markets differ between countries, primarily because there is neither a single strategic vision nor a single regulatory framework within the region. This transition of mentality is at different stages in different countries and for different technologies. Dynamics of the RES market in various CEE jurisdictions differ as well. In CEE there are countries with a buoyant RES market as well as countries that have become stagnant.
Offshore wind power is one of the most dynamically growing technologies for the production of electricity in Europe. Currently, most offshore wind farms are located in the North Sea. However, the North Sea’s dominance may not last forever. Germans, Danes, Swedes, Poles and Lithuanians are in the process of developing a significant number of new offshore wind farm projects in the Baltic Sea, where the wind power density is equally high as in the North Sea. Throughout Europe, the growth of all offshore wind power, and the pace of this growth, will be driven by the cost competitiveness of energy production and the level of policy support for the development of renewable energy. Will the new projects in the Baltic Sea benefit from these trends?
This IPFA seminar will keep you abreast of all significant developments which are taking place in CEE and the Baltic Sea.
